Auckland Under Alert Level 3: Should You Wear A Mask?

New Zealand: PM Jacinda Ardern has issued an order stating that the country’s biggest city is to go under a total lockdown as three new Covid-19 cases have surfaced.

What is the Current Status?

Currently, the whole country is at Alert level 2 except Auckland which is at Alert Level

According to the Ministry of Health, Auckland will remain under lockdown from the 14th of February to the 17th of February.

For the rest of the country, (until further information is issued), people have been recommended to wear masks and ensure physical distancing.

Why Should You Wear a Mask?

At this point, we’re all tired of the entire lockdown situation going-on but we can only get rid of this pandemic completely if we continue taking precautions such as wearing masks (correctly) at all times whenever going out.

You see, your mask protects you from harmful-infectious droplets that can be transmitted via air when someone around you talks (yes, even when someone is simply talking), laughing, sneezing, or coughing.

It is all the more important to wear masks during such a time when the government is trying to limit the cases (as well as casualties) at its minimum. Therefore, it is recommended to wear a mask and keep an extra with you at all times.

We would suggest getting disposable masks as it has a number of benefits ranging from hygiene as well as better protection as compared to regular face masks. Click on this link,to see our collection of protective face masks.

What is Alert Level 2?

Currently, except Auckland, the rest of the country is under Alert Level 2 which means that you’re legally bound to wear a mask when using public transport (such as buses, trains, & ferries) and aircraft.

What is Alert Level 3?

At Alert Level 3, the risk of contracting with Covid-19 is relatively much higher, and therefore, you are strongly advised to wear a mask at all times irrespective of where you’re going. Once you step outside your house, you should wear a mask.

We would recommend buying the DISPOSABLE PROTECTIVE FACE MASK WITH EAR LOOPS that come with three-layer protection. The outermost layer of the mask is non-woven, the second layer is a melt-blown cloth filter, and the third layer is the super-protective anti-bacterial layer. Furthermore, the mask filters out bacteria, dust, pollen, & smoke.

The Bottom Line

New Zealand has been one of those few countries that have managed to contain the spread of Covid-19 and ensure a speedy recovery. With a population of five million, there have been approximately 2,300 cases and 25 deaths. However, sadly, the pandemic is not completely eradicated.

Therefore, it is necessary for all of us to take proper precautions and ensure to follow safety guidelines issued by the government. Remember to stay safe.
